Thanks and call from Academy of Jineolojî

In the name of the Academy of Jineolojî, we thank all individuals, organizations, political parties and freedom fighters who, after the martyrdom of our comrade and friend of the struggle, member of the Academy of Jineolojî, heval Zilan-Nagihan Akarsel, sent us their messages via phone, e-mail, and digital media. We thank to all who sent their condolences and support, and showed their stand against that political assassin. We would like to thank to all those who were with us until we send Heval Nagihan over to Northern Kurdistan. We thank all the people who stood up for Nagihan and embrace Nagihan with a insurgent spirit. We thank all the women who did not leave the cry of “women, life, freedom” silent during this process.

If yesterday, spreading the philosophy of -women, life, freedom- and jineolojî was the dream of Nagihan Akarsel, today it has become the dream of hundreds of women who are suing peace and freedom. Nagihan fought for women’s freedom and a free life throughout her life. She loved her lands, she was a welatparez. As much as she loved her country, she crossed the borders of her country and became an internationalist. Her spirit transcended borders. She spent too much effort for the unity of Kurdish women. Nagihan had a big dream. She wanted to write the history of Kurdish women, collect the works of Kurdish women, build a situational network of women in Kurdistan and promote women’s science and jineolojî.

She worked tirelessly to make her dreams come true. Together with a group of fighting, libertarian women, she developed the project of the Kurdish Women’s Archive, Research and Library Center. Our friend Nagihan, until the day (04.10.2022) she was brutally murdered in Bakhtiyary district of Sulaymaniyah by the black hands of the fascist and occupying mentality of the Turkish state and its local partners, worked tirelessly for building the foundation of this project.

We, as the Academy of Jineolojî and friends of Nagihan, will continue her struggle, never give up, never get tired. Heval Nagihan, lit a candle of hope. We will lighten that candle; we will not let blow it out. May her spirit and struggle continue in our work and struggle. Through our studies, we will create a knowledge and science with feelings, conscience and ethics. As heval Nagihan says; “Science, which is separated from conscience, becomes immoral and careless, loses its meaning and deviates from the truth.”

Thank you for your brave participation in the ceremony of sending her to her hometown. We invite you all to support the implementation of the projects that Nagihan started. We invite you to make Nagihan Akarsel’s dreams your dreams. We call you to follow the process until the killers of her are held accountable, and to stand against the occupation imposed on our country.
