[Video] Song: Zeriyên şoreşê

At a time in which the place of women’s revolution is again at risk of new attacks, with a traditional song from this region we call for struggle. This song is dedicated to all the women who struggle and live according to their principles and dreams for a free life.

The resistance and struggle of the Kurdish people has always been a revolutionary school for revolutionaries all around the world. Andrea Wolf was one of those fighters who came to the lands of revolution and heroically fell martyr. After her, many internationalist women followed, by joining the revolution in Rojava. Andrea Wolf, Şehîd Ronahî, by fighting in the mountains of Kurdistan, revitalized the dream of world revolution. She realized and felt deeply that revolution in Germany is connected to revolution in Kurdistan. As with all the friends who gave their lives fighting for a better free world, we want to keep her spirit in the work we do, continuing our path of democratic, socialist and internationalist struggle in all of their footsteps.

The 18th of May 2022 marked the third anniversary of the opening of the Andrea Wolf Institute of Jineolojî Academy in North and East Syria. May 18th is also the day we commemorate Şehîd Hakî Karer and the many other friends who gave their lives for the freedom struggle. They were the bearers of a freedom that comes to us from deep and ancient roots, alive and vivid. They gain strength from cultural resistance of this society and give strength to it. As their followers we always lay on these deep roots of cultural resistance.

For commemoration of our brave ones, we are coming up with a song Hoy Zeriye, originally a traditional song from the Koçerat region. It is a song dedicated to the beloved, Zeriye, the golden1. Its spirit touches the roots we mentioned. Although we know the importance of preserving the originality of traditional songs, we hold the risk of adopting the song with different lyrics. Through this we aim to express commitment, dedication and revolutionary love to our ancestors in women’s struggle, to our sisters, friends and comrades in the freedom struggle today. From Sakine, Arin and Beritan to Gule in Aleppo, Berta in Honduras, ŞuJîn in China, Ramona in Chiapas, and to all the women in the world who dedicated their lives to the struggle for freedom.

In the Andrea Wolf Institute we aim to do this through sharing experiences of women from different regions of the world, learning, working on topics of Jineolojî and developing our common struggle, in thought, in action, in life. We invite all sisters, women comrades, women’s organizations to come to here, Rojava, to share, learn from each other, to touch, to spread the spirit of women’s revolution!

Long live women’s revolution

Long live the revolution of the peoples

Women’s strength is hope

Our golden one’s name is Sakine

She built the women’s party

Our golden one’s name is Arin

She liberated Kobane

Our golden one’s name is Beritan

She didn’t give in to treason

Our golden one’s name is Gule

She resisted in Aleppo

Hey golden one, golden one

Hey golden one, golden one

Hey golden one, golden one,

Women’s strength is hope

Our golden one’s name is Avesta

She defended Afrin

Our golden one’s name is Malda

She lived Jineoloji

Our golden one’s name is Hêlîn (Heleen)

From England she went to Afrin

Our golden one’s name is Nucan (Nujan)

She defended Heftanin

Hey golden one, golden one

Hey golden one, golden one

Hey golden one, golden one,

Women’s strength is hope

Our golden one’s name is Berta

She resisted in Honduras

Our golden one’s name is Shujin

She organized Chinese women

Our golden one’s name is Ramona

She guided the Zapatistas

Our golden one’s name is Andrea

She went to the mountains, for the people’s revolution!

No matter how much oppression or hardship,

Our resistance will live on!

Against division

We stand united!

Listen to this girl

Women are not property of their family

Bring a Kalashnikov for this woman

Women defend society

Bring a tambur (instrument) to this woman

Our voices reach across the world

Sing, sing friend!

For world revolution

Get up, stand up friend!

For world revolution

Oh my dear, oh my dear

Oh my dear, world

Oh my dear, oh my dear
Oh my dear, world

Women get on your feet

Build the revolution!

Women get on your feet

Build the revolution!

Oh my dear, my dear, my dear, my dear

Long live the women’s revolution!

Oh my dear, my dear, my dear, my dear

Long live the people’s revolution!

Oh my dear, my dear, my dear, my dear

Women’s struggle is something sacred

my dear, my dear, my dear, my dear

Women, life, freedom!
