On March 8, the Zam\u0101ru Project\u00b9 released a new song to salute all those fighting for a life of freedom and dignity worldwide.<\/p>\n
The song \u201cStreams of Movement\u201d was written during a Jineoloj\u00ee camp in Germany in the summer of 2024. Women of different generations and from different regions of Germany, Europe, the Middle East and Abya Yala came together. They dealt with Jineoloj\u00ee – the science of women and life, studying their history, the history of patriarchy and perspectives of women’s revolution and processed their reflections in artistic workshops.<\/p>\n
“On the first evening, a friend came up with the melody and the German verses of the song. We continued working on it together. Lines were written in Kurdish and Spanish, the ukulele, guitar and rhythms were rehearsed and another friend wrote the spoken word part. After a few hours of rehearsals, the song was premiered at the camp!
\nThe plan quickly became clear to share the song with the world on March 8. We got together in a friend’s studio to record it. For every step of the process, women participated who brought or acquired the necessary knowledge. We learned how to operate a documentary camera and fly a drone. One of us mixed, others did the editing.
\nJust a few of us could be there for the video shoot, but the Jena Feminist Choir sang the final chorus and lets us hear what we know: We are many.<\/p>\n
Important steps lie ahead of us in a turbulent time. With the perspective of Jineoloj\u00ee we say: We start from the roots of life in order to counter the destructive system of capitalist modernity with the knowledge and experiences of women and resistant societies, in the tradition of worldwide freedom struggles, to build democratic modernity.<\/p>\n
In this spirit, the net of Jineoloj\u00ee\u00b2 in Germany says \u201cJin, Jiyan, Azad\u00ee!\u201d (\u201cWomen, Life, Freedom!\u201d) and wishes all those who are resisting patriarchy a beautiful, powerful March 8 and much success in everything that follows!”<\/p>\n
